Stop Snoring Exercises

Snoring happens when dense and flabby tissue in the throat flop down into the airways during sleep causing them to become very narrow. This is made worse if this tissue is too relaxed often as a result of drinking too much alcohol before bedtime!

Like all other muscles and tissues in our body they can be strengthened and toned. A weak tongue will be more likely to flop about during sleep and a tense jaw can put pressure on the airways.

Tense jaw muscles can be painful and result in clicking noises, headaches and grinding during sleep. They can also put the jaw out of alignment and be the cause of a whole lot of other related problems.

Your dentist may decide to fit an implant to help cure the problem, but it cannot be always guaranteed to work.

There is a simple exercise that if done consistently over time may loosen up the jaw muscles successfully Pretend you are chewing a sweet and keep your mouth closed. Do this in short bursts of a few minutes every day.

To make sure you are doing the exercise correctly move the molars on both sides apart a little, and then touch lightly again. Also your mouth must be closed during the exercise. This exercise is quite easy on your jaw as you’re not actually chewing anything, but you may still feel a little but sore in the beginning. Just take it easy and only chew for a few seconds in the beginning and then gradually increase the time you exercise.

You can make an “mmm” sound as you chew. This will open the throat better. Making the sound is not necessary but gives an extra energy boost

Exercises that help to tone the muscles in the throat can help reduce snoring and in some cases actually eliminate it altogether.
