When my dentists told me I had to get a guard to keep from grinding for $500 I almost fell out. I have have 5 fillings replaced because of my grinding so what am spost to say, no thanks..they got me by my short and curlies. Or do they?
This product is almost if not exactly what my dentist was going to do. Create a mold, ship it off, get the final product, charge me $500 thank you very much.
Now for $50, I get the same result and get a professionally designed grind guard molded to my teeth. I have posted images with notes above please check them out cause they are WAY better than the picture they use on this page. What comes with this product when you buy it:
1) Molding putty (2 containers blue/white that are blended together in mold)
2) Molds (1 large/1 small)
3) Prepaid padded envelope to mail back mold after imprint
4) Printed instructions ( bad picture quality on the pics printed on them but you get the idea)
Mixing/molding = easy just be aware when you push this into your mouth and push it up against your teeth the putty has to go somewhere when it is displaced.
I found the extra trying to go down the back of my throat the fist time and had a gag thing going on. Popped out the mold, reshaped the putty to a more reasonable shape and had waaaay better time. The mold came out very easy. See above pic of results.
Sent back molds (they want back the one you don’t use also) in the provided prepaid envelope and got it back in about 8 days.
Very happy with it, very solid, and looks like it will take the wear and tear that it should. Should I be proven wrong I will write an update with the life span. The clock starts today (2/14/11).

Let’s face it: sleeping with a bite guard isn’t comfortable, you’ve got to get used to it. StressGard II is flexible and works with minimal discomfort. After a few nights I didn’t notice the discomfort.
I’ve had them last anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months. At some point, grinding takes its toll and it has to be replaced. I’ve had some other brands/models, StressGard II is the least uncomfortable and most flexible. Tip: if you find that it works for you, buy them 2 or 3 at a time.

I have used night guards of all types for many years. I have paid $500 for the custom fit plastic guards from dentists to $20 for “The Doctor’s” boil-to-fit guards (which I could never find a size that quite fit right and several times ruined them in the process of boiling and fitting).
All of them usually ended up somewhere besides my mouth within a few hours of going to sleep. Regardless of price, none of them lasted much longer than 1-2 months for me. And, with the boil-to-fit guards, they are such a hassle that I found myself going without.
I found this product on sale somewhere for $29 and figured it worth a try. I have been using for two months and have yet to wake up without it still in my mouth. It works great, fits comfortably and has held up reasonably well.
Though, I am certain it won’t make it the three months they guarantee it for so we’ll see how many times they will replace it under warranty. Don’t fault this product though – every dentist I’ve seen says I have the worst grinding problem they have seen. I usually crack their professional versions w/in a week.
This would get 5-stars except the price is 2x other over-the-counter offerings and the guaranteed durability for average users is only 3-months. If this was always $29 or closer to $20, definitely a 5-star product.
